4th of July Outdoor Decorations Ideas

It’s our first 4th of July at the farmhouse, so I wanted to add some 4th of July outdoor decorations to our farmhouse porches to spruce them up and celebrate the independence of our wonderful nation! I used a lot of things we already had on hand, and added some items I found fairly inexpensively to bring some festive, patriotic decor to our Ivy Farmhouse! Check out our 4th of July outdoor decorations ideas!

When should you decorate for the 4th of July?

I personally prefer to decorate for the 4th of July after Memorial Day and then leave the decor up until after the 4th of July. This year, we didn’t decorate for Independence Day until mid June. Anytime during the summer before the 4th of July is a great time to decorate for the holiday!

Here’s a look at the farmhouse all decked out in our year round American flag and our patriotic buntings. I love the look of buntings hanging from the balcony.

I found the larger buntings at Big Lots, but realized I needed two more. I couldn’t find an exact match, so I settled for these from Amazon. Next year I plan to make sure I have four identical buntings.

I found this adorable set of 4th of July outdoor pillow covers on Amazon, and I just love them! There were four in the pack, so next year when I have my rocking chairs I can put pillows on those, too.

A small pack of American flags can make a big statement! I like top put them in plants, in vases, and anywhere else I can put them to spread a little patriotic cheer! I found the patriotic rooster at Big Lots. Isn’t he cute?

Another way to add some 4th of July flair to your porch is to use big patriotic bows on your doors instead of wreaths. We have two doors on our farmhouse porch, so I purchased two patriotic bows for those doors and they turned out wonderfully!

I also decided to add some patriotic outdoor decor to this large window. I got the patriotic banner from Big Lots and the wreath from Walmart a few years ago. It goes great over our glider and gives our porch a very festive look!
