10 Baby Girl Bedroom Decorating Ideas for a Sweet and Simple Space
When we moved into this house, I knew that there would be no dedicated nursery room because we had six older children. So, I decided to turn a corner of our master bedroom into a nursery corner. This sweet little space is one of my favorite spots in the house. It’s so peaceful to sit and rock my baby girl here. Today I’m going to share with you 10 baby girl bedroom decorating ideas for a sweet and simple space.
Baby Girl Nursery Ideas
Today I’m going to share with you how I decorated my baby girl’s room. While the entire room isn’t dedicated just to the baby, the corner is so special! These decorating ideas would also work for a small room.
Florals
Let’s start with the obvious. I used a lovely floral baby girl nursery theme throughout this small space. I purchased these gorgeous floral crib sheets and also added a matching blanket and changing pad cover. I didn’t necessarily want a full bedding set, but I did want to set the theme with the floral crib sheets.
I also added floral decorations to the wall above the crib. These large pink flowers were just the perfect wall art! I felt they added a lovely feminine touch to the space and I just love how they add the perfect touch of pink without needing pink walls.
Another great option here would be some cute floral wall decals. I think the pink color scheme from the florals goes so well with the white furniture. You could also do bright colors with the white furniture, as opposed to the soft colors.
Vintage Pictures
Another idea for the bedroom of a little princess is to use some vintage pictures. I have the most beautiful picture of a mother, baby, and older child hanging here in my little girl’s room. This very picture used to hang in my grandmother’s house. I told her that I loved it so she gave it to me. It’s an older picture that I will always treasure.
You can find lovely vintage artwork at yard sales, thrift stores, and my favorite online store, Etsy. Just get your creative juices flowing and find something that inspires you!
Sweet Prayers
Every night our kids say their, “Now I lay me’s” and that prayer is just so important and special to our family. It is the perfect prayer to help your baby drift off to sweet dreams. I chose this simple wooden wall art to put over our baby girl’s crib. It was from Hobby Lobby. This one is similar.
Fluffy Rugs
Another good choice for any nursery design is a fluffy rug. I chose a round rug with a lot of soft shag so my baby would have a nice soft spot to play as she got older. I chose this beautiful dusty pink color to complement the rest of the baby’s room, and also because the primary colors in my nursery corner are pink and white.
A lovely round rug in the center of the room would also ground even a small space and provide a nice place for baby to lay and learn to crawl.
A Comfortable Glider
Of course, when it comes to any nursery room you need a good rocking chair. I chose this lovely glider from Target and it is my absolute favorite! I have rocked my baby girl to sleep countless times in this chair. I also use it in a reading nook to sit and read to my kids.
Handmade Pieces
One of the items you’ll notice on my glider is a handmade quilt. My grandmother made this quilt for my first daughter and now it is a treasured piece for all of my girls. This pink blanket acts as a decoration in the nursery space, as well a blanket to keep them warm while they sleep.
Invest in a Foot Rest
To go along with your glider, I highly suggest adding a foot rest to your nursery design. You’ll want somewhere to rest your feet while you spend so much time nursing your baby. I really enjoyed using my foot pouf while sitting in my glider and rocking my baby.
Patterned Wallpaper
Another excellent way to add different colors to your nursery room design is by using a patterned wallpaper accent wall. I personally love the floral accent wallpaper and would choose to put it on the wall directly behind the crib. Our walls make for a neutral room because our wall color is Repose Gray by Sherwin Williams, which happens to go with a variety of wallpapers.
Dresser/Changing Table Combo
The perfect combination in any nursery is the dresser/changing table combo. It really allows you to maximize a small space and can allow you to continue using your changing table as your child grows. I liked to dress my little dresser up with a cute changing pad cover, and then use the drawers to store extra diapers and supplies.
Play with the Different Hues of the Same Color
Finally, let’s talk about how to play with different hues. As stated my color combination here is pink and white, but I’ve also thrown in a bit of gray if you’re into grey baby girl room ideas. The walls here are a very light gray, while my glider is a bit darker.
I’ve also played with varying hues of pink. My wall flowers are very light pink, while the flowers in the bedding are brighter. My rug is a lovely dusty rose, while the pinks in the quilt are lighter and darker.
This baby girl’s nursery corner is just my absolute favorite spot. It’s so sweet and peaceful! I hope you have found some great ideas for helping you decorate your baby girl’s bedroom!
